The Disco Ball measures 11 feet in diameter, contains nearly 1,000 mirrors and weighs three-quarters of a ton. It is constructed from extruded aluminum with a reflective Mylar surface and is so perfectly balanced that it can propel itself for hours with just one spin.
Important visitor information: Luminarium is open 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 13. This installation is ticketed. Entry fee is $5, and no advance tickets will be sold. Patrons pay at the door. Long wait periods are expected, so arrive early. Children under 16 years will only be admitted accompanied by an adult (1 adult for 4 children maximum). The luminarium is accessible to wheelchair users. Last entry allowed at 11 p.m. nightly. The luminarium will close at 11:20 p.m.
